Morgan Hill Unified School District received the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds under the American Rescue Plan Act, referred to as ESSER III funds. We were required to develop a plan for how to use the ESSER III funds, which is an expansion of our Expanded Learning Opportunities Plan. In the plan, we explained how the funds will address our students’ academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as any opportunity gaps that existed before, and were worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The promise of public education is to ensure all students succeed in our K-12 system and in their individual post secondary opportunities of college and career. Our mission, vision and values guide our district’s beliefs that help to inform our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) goals. The study session will provide a status update on LCAP Goal 1 (Advance College, Career and Civic Readiness for Improved Year-Over-Year Student Achievement in Pre-K-12th grades) by providing a five year longitudinal student achievement data set that includes: student demographics, graduation rates, a-g requirement completion, analysis of college and career readiness (ccr), ccr dashboard rates, MAP scores, AP enrollment, student grades, student attendance, student behavior, student group data for all students by ethnicity, English Learners, students with disabilities, Migrant Education, Foster and Homeless Youth, Student Voice qualitative data, individual student highlights, among others. We will also provide an overview of DataZone. The conversation about our data (and its analyis) will highlight next steps that will allow our school district to zero in on strengthening our multi-tiered system of supports with an emphasis on a robust Tier 1 that ensures pedagogical precision that meets student needs. Attached to this item are two documents. The first one is a visual snapshot of a one year data set and the second is a document presented during our Professional Learning Community (PLC) professional development for district, school and teacher leaders. Both will help to frame the study session’s conversation on the power of how collaboration can be a vehicle that can support our students’ individual needs.
