B.1. Approve the request of the Charter School of Morgan Hill (CSMH) for renewal of its charter
Rationale:
On August 5, 2015, CSMH submitted a petition to renew its charter.  CSMH’s initial charter was granted in 2001, and petitions for renewal were approved on January 24, 2006 and September 28, 2010, each for for a term of five years.  The current charter expires on June 30, 2016.

A petition for renewal of a charter must meet the following requirements of the law:

(1) The charter school must meet certain academic performance criteria (Ed. Code § 47607 (b)); and

(2) The petition must meet the standards required of new petitions (Ed. Code § 47605), and must be updated to reflect any changes in the law occurring since the prior charter was granted.

On renewal, a charter is normally granted for a term of five years (Ed. Code § 47607 (a)(1).

C. ADJOURNMENT
Rationale:
The next REGULAR meeting of the Board of Education is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, 2015, with Open Session beginning at 6:00pm.  The agenda will be available on the District's website by 5:00pm Friday, October 2, 2015.
 
D. PUBLIC COMMENT ON CLOSED SESSION TOPICS
Rationale:
Members of the public may address the Board at this time regarding items on the Closed Session agenda. The Board of Education reserves the right to limit speaking time to three (3) minutes or less per individual.
